ABOUT ME
Mark Schatz is an architect, artist, and educator. Originally from Detroit, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1972 to study architecture and design at Stanford. He continued his studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and did a one year exchange program at Cambridge University.
He is currently working as a principal with ELS Architects of Berkeley, CA and teaching 4th year architecture students as an adjunct professor at Cal Poly and UC Berkeley.
Mark has been doing photography since college, and began working in glass in 2013, when his kids gave him the gift of a series of glass fusing classes to counter the lack of creative challenge in his life that had been a result of the lengthy recession.
He currently lives in Novato, just north of San Francisco with his wife, Amy Peele, who is an author, yoga instructor, and retired transplant nurse. To check out her latest medical mysteries, go to www.amyspeele.com.
Daughter Gracie Schatz is the head chef at the non-profit 18 Reasons Cooking School, and son Bennett is an audio engineer at Dolby Labs, both in San Francisco.
